Publish.org – I wrote an article examining the integration policies of a city in Mechelen, and am currently working on a piece covering the impact of media oppression on democracy in Turkey.

Commonspace – I wrote an opinion piece on the Kurdish referendum.

The Guide Istanbul – I worked as the Arts and Culture Editor/Writer for 18 months. During this time I contributed numerous articles on art, music, and history of Istanbul, as well as conducting interviews, content planning, and working closely with the designer on the redesign of the magazine. I contributed SEO friendly online content and used various social media channels to generate traffic to the website.

The Cable – I wrote Looking East: The Changing Face of Istanbul in 2017 for this Scotland-based online publication.

Positive News – I have contributed articles to the last two issues.

Songlines – I have an article on Cappadox Festival in April 2017 issue.

The Skinny – I have written a travel article for this popular, independent magazine.

Time Out Istanbul – Working as a freelancer, I wrote an article on Istanbul’s Top Ten Alternative Tours and covered Grayson Perry’s exhibition at Pera Museum for the June 2015 issue.

The Norwich Radical – I work as the Arts Editor for this progressive online platform.

Paste Magazine – I covered my top ten must sees in the city for their Checklist: Istanbul.

Skylife – I contributed an article on the gastronomy of Gaziantep (in South-Eastern Turkey) for Turkish Airlines in-flight magazine.


I wrote a weekly column and submitted numerous articles for one of Turkey’s main English language papers. These were on a variety of subjects including music, travel, culture, and lifestyle.

Glasgow Guardian – I have written news, views, and travel pieces for this popular and professional student paper.


Fodor’s Guide to Turkey, 2016 – I updated the Eastern Turkey and Black Sea chapter of the upcoming guide. For this I travelled to Gaziantep, Mount Nemrut, Urfa, Mardin, Midyat, Diyarbakir, Van, Dogubeyazait, Artvin, Kars, Ani, Sumela, Camlihemsin, Ayder, and Trabzon.

Rough Guide to Istanbul, 2015 – I updated one of Istanbul’s most popular guidebooks, with the latest information on restaurants, bars, hotels, tourist spots and other information.

Frommers Day By Day Guide to Istanbul, 2014 – I updated this convenient and lightweight guidebook checking, correcting, and adding information.

Commercial Work

www.sohohouse.com – I contributed an article on the best ‘off the beaten path’ sights in Istanbul for their House Seven magazine.

www.Istanbultourstudio.com – I  wrote SEO friendly content pages on the many tourist attractions of Istanbul, and also edited the accompanying blog.

www.kilim.com – I contributed in-depth, researched articles on kilims, techniques, designs etc.

www.spotblue.com – I wrote Istanbul-related content targeted at homebuyers.

www.evaparments.org – I wrote tourism and property management articles, and uploaded them in a SEO friendly way to their WordPress blog.
